A Bedford Springs Wedding Retreat
When Katie and Ryan started planning their wedding, they wanted an event that felt like a retreat for themselves, along with all of their guests. Katie loves yoga and spa days, and Ryan is an avid golfer so the Omni Bedford Springs was a perfect fit!
Their whirlwind romance began in 2017. Just five weeks after their first date they were booking a trip to Paris together and meeting parents. Since then they’ve enjoyed countless Penn State tailgates, trips abroad, golf tournaments, and weddings of friends. Everyone on pins and needles waiting to see an engagement every time they posted photos from all their travels (Germany adventure, Vegas trip, helicopter over Grand Canyon, etc), but Ryan surprised everyone (including Katie) with a proposal on her birthday in March of 2018.
Like many couples, Katie and Ryan postponed their 2020 wedding to be able to safely celebrate with friends and family. While they patiently waited for their wedding, they forged ahead with their life together, including shopping for a new house, which they closed on the morning they were leaving for Bedford Springs to begin their wedding celebration!
To create the retreat that they so wanted for friends and family, they hosted multiple rounds of golf, spa visits, a welcome party, and an afternoon pool party while at Bedford Springs. The weather was spot on perfect for their wedding day, and after hours of dancing and fun, they closed out their reception with all of their guests lining the stairs around the grand entry, raining bubbles down upon them, chanting the familiar words that were Katie’s first message to Ryan, and shouted at many a tailgate party since: We are….Penn State!”
