“In a city of 8 million, and in a world of 8 billion, I’ve found the one girl who will make me happier than anyone else on the planet.”
We love The Greenbrier in all of its seasons, but Christmas is certainly the most magical. The entire resort is lit and decorated, there are ice skating and holiday treats around every corner, and this year, there was the Courtney and Alex’s wedding!
The Cameo ballroom set the perfect base for Courtney’s pink color palette. From the vintage style ornaments used as favors, to the florals and decor, to the oversized pink nutcrackers that guarded the hot chocolate and cookie station, pink was everywhere! While the mother of the bride, DeEtte, and wedding designer, Pamela Barefoot, had created an amazingly beautiful scene for the wedding, what we really love is the story behind it all.
We find out the background of our couples (how they met, their engagement story, etc) from our client questionnaire a few months before their wedding. But there is really nothing like hearing their story told over the course of the wedding weekend. The family asked that we film a bit of the rehearsal dinner, during which we heard from family and friends, and finally, Alex himself gave a toast to both thank every for attending, and recount their first date.
Their officiant shared these same sentiments during their ceremony before the couple exchanged traditional wedding vows.
Courtney and Alex involved their families in so many of the important events leading up to their marriage. Alex planned a surprise proposal in Bryant Park but invited their families along to witness the whole thing. Father of the bride, Pat, shared this moment in his speech at the reception. The maid of honor and best man also shared anecdotes on how well matched Courtney and Alex are, how well they compliment each other, and the “unconventional best man #2” gave a hilarious (yet touching) speech as well.
Hearing all of these stories about their relationship, from the very first time they met, to when everyone realized it was meant to be, all the way up to their wedding day gave all of the guests (and our film) a beautiful narrative of their entire love story.
That narrative itself made for a beautiful wedding film, and the carefully styled details added the finishing touches. Among our favorites are the handpainted bottle of Veuve, and the adorable sleigh for the cutest little flower girl ever.
The evening was finished off with the entire wedding party and guests gathering for a spirited rendition of “All I want for Christmas” and confetti canon sendoff. There could not have been a more festive way to celebrate the holiday and this new marriage!
