Wedding Planning Tips

2019 Venue Bucket List | Destination Wedding Video

We’ve spent the past several years traveling all around filming weddings, and as we enjoyed our holiday, we started thinking about some NEW places where we would love to film.

Now don’t get me wrong; we absolutely love the places we often film weddings.  There is something to be said for having a certain familiarity and knowing your way around a place.  That being said; we do love an adventure and seeing some new places.  Chris and I had a nice dinner out and started talking about some places where we would LOVE to film in 2019 and we’d love to cast those out into the world and see what comes back to us.

We’re offering 10% off of our package rates for the 1st couple to book at any of these venues.

The Omni William Penn, Pittsburgh PA

We so enjoyed filming Samantha and Matt’s wedding at the Omni Bedford Springs, and have personally enjoyed the Omni William Penn.  The Grand Ballroom is absolutely stunning and we have so many ideas for using the unique and exceptional decor for an amazing film!

Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh PA

I’ve followed the Carnegie Science Center events team on Instagram all year, and they know how to throw a party!  PointView Hall offers a great venue and amazing view, and everything there looks like so much FUN!

WV State Capitol, Charleston WV

Though we’ve traveled all over the world, there’s no place we love more than our home state of WV.  Weddings at the Capitol combine both the Mountaineer spirit with the grandeur of the Capitol grounds to create an altogether memorable experience.

Dolly Sods or Spruce Knob, WV

Another one of our personal favorites that we have enjoyed a bit as a family, but where we haven’t yet had the privilege of filming a wedding. (Both Highlight Film and Elopement packages are eligible for the discount at this location).

Tiny White Country Chapel

This one isn’t a specific venue, but I have such a soft place in my heart for tiny white chapels that live down little country roads. When we drive past them I stop to take a photo, and I dream of filming a wedding in one someday.  (Both Highlight Film and Elopement packages are eligible for a discount at this location.  Our Elopement package covers up to 25 guests, so even if your tiny chapel wedding isn’t a true elopement, this package may work for you!)

Marion County Courthouse, Fairmont WV

Much like the State Capitol, our local Courthouse has a quiet elegance about it.  I can peek out the front window of our studio and see it up the street with its Beaux Arts brilliance.  The decorative dome and murals add a touch of history, and I would love to see it featured in a wedding film.  This would be perfect for our elopement package!

To round out our list, we are really lucky to have two brand new venues in the area.  I’ve met the owners/venue coordinators at both and so look forward to working with them.

The Grayson House, Uniontown PA

This upscale barn venue is located just outside of Uniontown PA (ie, local for us, no travel fees apply).  It has been thoughtfully and beautifully designed to serve as a wedding venue. We shot a styled shoot at the Grayson House this fall, and I can’t wait to see a real wedding in this space!

Crystalline Events, Fairmont WV

Crystalline Events has taken a decommissioned mid-century church and renovated it into a really lovely events center.  The area which used to be a sanctuary is now a large, white open space with neutrally toned flooring, gorgeous chandeliers, and a wonderful collection of furniture to match any style.  Windows have been replaced to allow more light into the space, and a really nice bridal suite has been prepared.  I love to see things repurposed and made useful again, especially in my local community, so I’m excited to see this venue grow. We have a fun event coming up at Crystalline Events in February and I’ll be sure to share the video with you!

If you’ve been looking at one of these venues, or have already scheduled your wedding, contact us today for more information about booking with MotionWorks Wedding Films.  The discount is for the first couple from each venue to book with us, so get in touch today!
